Zoo Accused of Painting A Donkey as A Zebra

A zoo in the city of Egypt—Cairo, has been accused of painting a donkey as a zebra, by doing this the zoo officials are trying to fool the visitors. The donkey has been painted with zebra stripes. The zoo director is persistent that the painted donkey is actually the zebra.

This whole occurrence has given a new meaning to the phrase “a wolf in sheep’s clothing”.

Mahmoud Sarhan-18 informed that while visiting the newly opened zoo at the International Garden municipal park he noticed the strange animal.

He said that many things regarding the animal made it appear suspicious to him. The black paint had melted on the face of the donkey and even its ears were not of the right size as of a zebra.

Sarhan posted a picture of the strange creature on his Facebook account, which immediately went viral.

In the picture Sarhan is seen posing next to the animal, looking mystified. He posted in Arabic that the stupidity has touched the nation that they considered putting a painted donkey as a zebra in the zoo.

The director of Gardens Project in Cairo has declined such reports claiming that the zoo authorities had tried to pass a donkey as a zebra.

Mohammed Sultan told Egypt’s Youm 7 news channel that the zebra is not painted and is for real.

He further added that the animals in the zoo are looked after properly and are regularly checked for making sure of their welfare.

An animal group PETA activist has disagreed with the zoo authorities about their claim that the animal is being taken care of properly, after reviewing the images of the animal.

Delcianna Winders—the Vice President of PETA Foundation in a statement told CNN that no decent facility of animal care could put an animal like a donkey to such a stress of being controlled and painted with chemicals which could possibly cause an allergic reaction to the animal. It added that PETA hopes that the Cairo authorities are completely investigation the issue.

This occurrence is not the first of its kind. Back in 2013, a zoo in China brought fury to the tourists by fooling them to believe a hairy dog as a lion.
