In the month of May, Yamaha sold 2,435 bike units while in June, Yamaha sold 1,978 bike units.

Even though bike prices are increasing continuously in Pakistan, the local bike market is booming. Bike sales surged to 26% on year to year basis. Last year in June bike manufacturers sold 102,207 units while this year in June bike manufacturers shipped 128,976 bikes.

Other than Yamaha Pakistan, Suzuki Pakistan and Atlas Honda increased bike rates up to PKR 6,500 and PKR 5,000, respectively.

Pak Suzuki also increased its car prices for the fourth time in 2018. The new prices were effective from 1st August 2018. The maximum car price increase was of Mehran VXR of PKR 45,000. A notification was issued to all dealerships with updated price and date.

The reason given by automakers for increasing car prices was the devaluation of the rupee against the dollar. But in the last week after the elections, the rupee has gained strength against the dollar and now it seems unclear as to why the automakers and bike manufacturers are increasing the prices yet again. Are the automakers making the profit just by making life miserable for the customers? If the short-term economic stability in the country, it seems unclear why there is a constant increase in prices of cars and bikes in Pakistan.
