Xiaomi would sell the cheapest 5G smartphones in the market

Huawei, Xiaomi, Samsung, OnePlus and others have unveiled their 5G smartphones with the prices that are relatively high as compared to normal 4G smartphones. But Xiaomi seems to produce the cheapest 5G smartphones in this race.

Huwawei and Xiaomi have officially unveiled their 5G smartphones at the Mobile World Congress MWC 2019. Huawei said its Mate X 5G smartphone will cost whopping $2600 when it will be launched in mid-2019.

On the other hand Xiaomi’s Mi Mix 3 5G will cost roughly $679 when it will become available in the market by May 2019. However, Xiaomi’s price is much lower than what the early 5G phones would have cost.

Except Apple, almost every smartphone maker is mulling to launch 5G smartphone this year, Samsung has unveiled its first 5G smartphone just before the MWC 2019 at the event in San Francisco.

Oppo has also spoken about its first 5G phone at the MWC on Saturday without giving it a name. “OnePlus would keep the cost of 5G smartphone under $1000”, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau said during an interview on Monday.

The former OnePlus 6T starts from $549 with 128GB+6GB model, the previous reports also indicated that OnePlus 5G smartphones would be $200 to $300 higher than OnePlus 6T which indicated the OnePlus 5G smartphone price would be around $750 to $850 or it could be little higher.

Samsung’s senior director of product marketing told Cnet that Samsung 5G smartphone would be more than $1000. Since, 5G would be the new technology which will boost the speeds by 10 to 100 times more than the currently running 4G connections on the phone, manufacturers as well as ISPs have a change to charge premium prices for the service.

So you can expect the higher prices not only from the manufacturers but also from the service providers. Dan Hays, a consultant at PWC said you can expect 8 to 10 percent premium pricing in the early 5G service similar to early 4G service as we witnessed in the past.
