Xiaomi is the emerging smartphone maker of 2017. It has not reached up to the level of Huawei but it is progressing.

On a Chinese social media, it was said by Mr. Lei Jun (CEO, Xiaomi) that their firm has transported more than 10 million phones just in the month of September. He also mentioned that the demand has increased and it has become tough to meet the supply for certain models. He further said for the first time, ever since the launch of Xiaomi they have sold 10 million units in just a month. This clearly indicates that Xiaomi has reached new levels of success in business.

Xiaomi is not much common in the United States yet but years back it has enjoyed the perks of being the top-selling brand in China. This being the reason that it is now the fourth largest smartphone company in the world. It was most popular in the Chinese market but has also found its success in the growing Indian marketplace.

Ever since the launch of its two new phones Mi Mix 2 and Mi A1 the company is thriving. Mi Mix 2 is the company’s most costly phone till date, it is a bezel-less unit with a ceramic back, whereas Mi A1 is a budget-friendly Android phone made for developing markets like India.

Xiaomi has still some work to do to regain back its top rank in the home market. Huawei is a tough competitor and is also in Chinese phone making. It outsold Apple in summers globally and came just next to Samsung in sales. It ships an average of 12 million phones per month.

Nevertheless, reaching a figure like 10 million in one month is not something that could be ignored. It for sure is a sign that Xiaomi is very much back on track after losing track in 2016. Xiaomi’s achievement is referred to as a “phenomenal comeback” by one of the analysts Neil Shah, at Counterpoint Research.

Mr. Shah further said that the demand of Xiaomi phones has grown in China and in India (to almost 400 %). The firm is also invading new markets like Russia, Latin America, and the Middle East. This increased demand has helped Xiaomi to increase its market share from 4 % in September 2016 to 9 % in September 2017. He further added that for how long the company can keep the momentum is something to be seen.
