While this year’s pandemic and monsoon did not work well for Pakistan, several migratory bird species seem to be visiting Pakistan, says WWF-Pakistan.
However, these migratory birds are in great danger and their biggest enemy is none other than the man. WWF highlighted their concern hunting is not only decreasing the race of these birds but also making an unfriendly zone for them.
The rapid fall in the population of migratory birds in the country is most likely one of the factors causing a rise in locust swarms, which destroyed crops in many areas in Sindh and Punjab. These birds not only help control the populations of insects and some fish species but improve habitat for other wildlifeWWF-Pakistan
WWF- Pakistan also requested the federal government to resume the Annual Winter Fowl Survey. This has been a normal practice of the government and gives different data including the number of migratory birds and their migration patterns.
