The traffic police in Karachi has come up with a different kind of somewhat controversial solution of dealing with wrong parking issues.
If a car is wrongly parked or parked in space where parking is prohibited or is double parked, the traffic wardens have been instructed to take off the original number plate of the car from both the front and back side of the car.
As per the traffic police, there are enough warning signs in the no parking areas, however, people seem to ignore them and still park their cars in these areas. This leads to traffic jams and issues to other travellers on the road.
After the traffic police confiscates the number plate, he would then be leaving a note on the car windshield. The note is basically a kind of notification to the owner of the car about their traffic violation.
If the car owner or driver of the car would wish to get their number plates back, they would have to then pay a fine of two hundred and fifty rupees. This fine would be paid exactly like the fines or amounts paid for any other challan.
This is a good initiative of the Karachi traffic police for controlling the problems linked to wrong parking. Parking in wrong zones lead to a number of problems for everyone, it not just causes traffic blocks but could also lead to unfortunate situations sometimes.
