World’s First Green “Forest City” Build In China

Pollution is increasing globally, due to deforestation, creation of new cities and demand and supply for more and more vehicles. The world is moving in a direction that is harming our environment, in the midst of all this China has come forward with a city called “forest city” in order to fight pollution.

The project is not completed yet, it is designed by a team called Stefano Boeri Architetti. This team has created green projects before, all around the world.  The city would be a residential community for around 3,000 people. There would be greenery all around the city, with almost 1 million plants, around 100 species and 40,000 trees. The trees and green plants would absorb almost 10,000 tons of carbon dioxide as well as 57 tons of pollutants. 900 tons of oxygen per year would be generated due to this city.

Benefits:

  • Reduce the regular air temperature
  • Improve local air quality
  • Boost local biodiversity in the vicinity
  • Create noise barriers

City characteristics:

Liuzhou Forest City will be self-sufficient and will operate on solar energy or geothermal energy that would be renewable.  Along with residential areas, commercial areas, recreational zones, hospitals and two schools would be part of the city.

The project is expected to complete by 2020. If it becomes successful , further more green projects are expected to be designed in China.
