The Women on Wheels (WOW) is all set to make an entry at the Pakistan Super League edition three (PSL-3) semi-final. The Women on Wheels is the scheme of Shahbaz Sharif—Punjab Chief Minister.
The campaign was initiated back in the year 2015 in Lahore by the Strategic Reforms Unit. Under the campaign, free motorbike training was provided to women. The objective of the scheme is to provide females with free mobility options and to help them in reclaiming their public spaces. It has plans of providing training to 40,000 women. The second phase of the scheme would be introducing subsidised motorcycles especially for the women of the province Punjab.
The trainees under the WOW campaign have been given the invitation to the PSL semi-final and would most probably be visiting it. The Pakistan Super League semi-final is to be held on the 20th of March that is tomorrow in Lahore. The WOW trainees are invited in an attempt to highlight and promote women empowerment. The semi-final would be held at the Qaddafi Stadium.
The Women on Wheels trainees would be taking part in a rally where they would be riding motorbikes accompanied by the celebrities including Sohai Ali Abro, Mira Sethi and Jungu Mohsin.
The trainees participating the rally includes women belonging to a variety of age groups and various professions.
Upon the instructions of the Chief Minister Punjab, the event is aimed at raising the awareness relating the need to have safer and much secure places for women.
Women empowerment is the hottest topic of present times. Recently to boost the women of the community and to encourage them to be independent and be empowered a rally was also initiated on the 8th of March popularly celebrated globally as the Women’s International Day.
