WHO Lauds Pakistan’s Efforts to Handle Coronavirus Epidemic


WHO has lauded the efforts of Pakistan to handle the coronavirus pandemic. The World Health Organization has placed Pakistan among nations from whom the international community should learn how to deal with the coronavirus epidemic.

Dr. Zafar Mirza, the former special assistant to PM on Health told media that it was the acknowledgment of the efforts of Pakistan on the international level.

Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the Director-General of WHO in a media briefing said that Pakistan has positioned the infrastructure build-up on many years for polio to fight against coronavirus.

He added that the health workers of the community who have been provided training to go door-to-door for the vaccination of the children for polio have been made use of for the purpose of surveillance, care, and contact tracing.

Dr. Mirza tweeted that Pakistan is included in the list of the 7 nations by the Director-General of WHO. These are the countries that the world should learn from about how to combat future epidemics. He further wrote that it is a great honor for the Pakistanis.

He said that it shows that if we want to do something we could do it. Furthermore, the WHO DG talked about the significance of the public health system. It is being said that building back better (BBB) and he thinks that the time has come to build back.

Referring to the rumors about his leaving Pakistan, he said that he is not going anywhere and would be staying in the country.
