WhatsApp Now has More Than 2 billion Users

WhatsApp now has more than 2 billion users across the world. As per the announcement made by the messaging app it has now attained more than 2 billion users, thus making it the biggest social media platform after Facebook.

Facebook had nearly got 2.50 billion monthly active users as of the 31st of December as said by the company.

As per a blog post of the messaging app, WhatsApp began its operations with the objective of forming a service that is easy, reliable and private for the people to use. He also said that today they remain as committed to their objective as when they began, for helping to connect the world privately and to protect the personal communication of the 2 billion users all across the world.

WhatsApp has started as an alternative to SMS platform. The app now supports sending and receiving of a variety of media, like photos, texts, photos, documents and locations as well as the voice call. The messages and calls are made secure with the end-to-end encryption, which means that no third party which includes WhatsApp could read or listen to them.

WhatsApp was founded by Brian Acton and Jan Koum who had earlier spent 20 years combined at Yahoo. WhatsApp joined hands with Facebook in 2014, however, it continues to operate as a separate application.
