What Lies Ahead in Fortnite Season 7

Fortnite season 7

A massive cultural phenomenon, Fortnite has been getting nothing less than warm reception from all manner of celebrities, gaming journalists, casuals, kids, and even a good chunk of hardcore gamers. But apparently, Epic Gameshas brought the temperature down a little–or a lot–for this season.

All this because it’s not just the holidays; it’s Fortnite Season 7!

Cold, Cold Ruler

From what we’ve seen from the teaser poster, it looks as if the game will include some things–or someone–used to being way below zero. In it, we see a hooded figure whose face is obscured other than his sharp and blue eyes. And on top of his hood are icicle-like projections, making him seem like he’s fitted with a crown. If you’re pretty savvy with pop culture references, this is very reminiscent of Warcraft III and World of Warcraft’s Lich King. In fact, you could even say that it’s a shout-out to the Night King from Game of Thrones. Regardless of whether it’s a pop culture reference or not, it looks like they’re sticking to that “powerful and mysterious royalty from the north with ice powers” trope.

Upon the reveal, it looks like the teaser image is a new skin that’s among the new Fortnite items in the season’s Battle Pass. And it’s aptly named as such: Ice King. True to the preview, the skin is a hooded figure with glowing blue eyes, crown-like projections, chest armor, gauntlets, greaves, and a long trenchcoat-like train on his waist.

Winter Way ‘Round

Mind you, the skin isn’t the only thing that’s frost-related for Fortnite account owners this season, as the map has also been updated. There’s the new biome, Iceberg, and new locations: Frosty Flights, Polar Peak, and Happy Hamlet. There are also new points of interest that you can find around the island. With these chilly places come frozen surfaces, so be wary as you’ll be sliding over them if you walk on. Tread carefully!

With these new areas come new ways of getting around. At the Iceberg biome and near the Expedition Outposts, there is now a conveniently located zipline. As for transportation, there is now the driftboard, which is kind of like a hovering snowboard. Unfortunately, Epic has to make a few fixes for it so it’s going to be delayed by a few days. It’s not much but it’s an in-game hoverboard. Understandably, it’s a tad bit hard to be patient for something like that.

Then there’s the X-4 Stormwing, which is obviously a Star Wars fighter-inspired biplane. This aircraft can carry up to five players with one piloting it while the other four stay on the wings. When players exit the plane, they will enter a skydiving state. Other than being able to carry up to five players, the plane has a machine gun up front. Be mindful not to go bananas when you fire it, though, as it can overheat.

Holiday Wrap-Up

Of course, there’s more to this winter wonderland of an update than a single skin because there are many other skins such as Zenith, a guy with a visor and a winter coat, and Lynx, a woman in a catsuit. Plus, if you get yourself the Battle Bundle, you’ll be receiving Sergeant Winter. Think of him as a buffed and tactical Santa Claus. Imagine getting all these goodies and using the Fortnite Value Calculator!

On the other hand, if you want even more customization options, then you should get your hands on Wraps. These items provide patterns or colors on your weapons and vehicles. You unlock wraps by leveling and by buying them.

Fortnite is staying true to the climate of the season and, in the spirit of giving, threw in quite a lot of new stuff. So if you’re on the fence on joining this epic Battle Royale, make your mind up fast as there’s no better time to do so than right now.Happy holidays!
