Hassan Daud Butt—the Project Director of China Pakistan Economic Corridor informed that the western and eastern CPEC routes would be completed by next year.
During an interview that was conducted on Monday, the CPEC project director said that in the first or initial phase of the corridor, the projects related to energy and infrastructure were being completed while in the second phase work on the Special Economic Zones (SEZs) would soon be started.
He added that as many as nine special economic zones at different locations throughout the nation have been brought under the corridor project in which the provincial governments, alongside the private entrepreneurs, were taking a great interest in.

He confirmed that with the formation of SEZs, new industrial units would be installed in the nation which would assist in increasing the trade activities throughout the country.
The project director said that following the completion of the CPEC projects, a new era of growth and development would be starting in the country and the fate of Pakistanis would also be changed towards betterment.
He also said that the China Pakistan Economic Corridor would help in further increasing the bilateral ties in the different sectors which include education, trade and other social sectors.
Previously it was in the news that Saudi Arabia would be joining in the CPEC, however, it was later confirmed that although the Kingdom would be doing investment in Pakistan, it would be under a different Bilateral Agreement than CPEC.
