A teenage girl Kashaf Dukhtar died and at least 25 others injured after a ride collapsed in the recently launched Askari Amusement Park in Karachi.

An eyewitness said, “It was around 40-feet above the ground when it crashed. There was a loud bang and people ran here and there.”
The girl (12 or 16 years old) was immediately taken to the Dr. Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi but she couldn’t make it. Dr. Qarar Ahmed Abbasi said that the girl was already dead when she was brought to the hospital.
Hospital’s spokesperson, Anjum Rizvi said, “We received seven persons brought for treatment to Liaquat National Hospital. All have been moved to the emergency ward. At this moment, nothing can be said about the condition of the injured.”
Police surgeon, Dr. Aijaz Khokhar said, “Seven injured males, aged between 12 and 15 years were brought for treatment to JPMC (Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre).”
Karachi Commissioner Sauleh Faruqi visited the park after the incident and said, For rescue and defense, we have Civil Defense. But there’s no organization for inspection (of such parks).”
Adding “The injured have been moved to Liaquat National Hospital,” “Experts will be on taken the board for the inspection.”
Caretaker Chief Minister Fazlur Rehman and Sindh Police chief Amjad Javed Saleemi have taken notice of this terrible incident. The chief secretary, Maj (retd) Azam Suleman Khan has ordered the management of the park to close the amusement park for at least the next three days. After the rides are inspected the park will open again.

Askari Amusement Park opened in Karachi on Eid-ul-Fitr first day. The park is spread across 30 acres, located at Main University Road, Old Sabzi Mandi Karachi.
