Wasim Akram Selected as the Ambassador for Polio Eradication

Wasim Akram—the legendary cricketer has been selected as the ambassador for polio eradication in Pakistan.

According to the details, a ceremony was held on the World Polio Day in the capital city where the veteran player undertook the controls of the post.

On the occasion, Wasim Akram emphasized that it is the right of all the children to stay protected from the poliovirus. He also appealed to all the Pakistanis to join hands with the mission of defeating the crippling disease from Pakistan.

It is important to mention that Babar Atta, has resigned from the post of Polio Adviser on the 18th of October to the United Nations and Polio Focal Person to the PM Khan.

In a series of posts on the social media platform—Twitter, Babar Atta asked the Prime Minister to relieve him of his responsibilities owing to some personal reasons regarding his family.

Polio spreads in vulnerable populations in areas that have got poor immunity and sanitary conditions. It gets into the nervous system and could cause irreversible paralysis within hours. It is incurable, however, the infection could be prevented by vaccination.
