It can be seen in the video that the motorway police is following a private bus on M2, trying to stop the vehicles. But the driver did not stop the bus and turned left. Seeing this the police officials opened fire on the bus and the vehicle ultimately stopped.
In the video, we can see that two people are injured and some people just ran off the bus as it stopped.
As per the Motorway police officer Mehmood Khokhar, the police got a tip from Collector Customs Intelligence that some non-custom paid goods were smuggled via the bus from Peshawar.
Khokhar informed, “When the vehicle reached Islamabad Toll Plaza, our officer told the driver that the bus needed to be checked, upon which the driver started a brawl.” Then when the backup reached the driver just sped the bus away
Furthermore, the police officials tried to stop the bus but the driver was ignorant to the warnings.
He also claimed, “Our officers opened fire in retaliation after someone inside the bus fired shots at them.”
Adding that the bus driver ran away after he stopped the bus.
Khokhar said, “One individual got injured, who was taken to hospital by our officers. Our officers stayed there until his family came.”
The police have also taken action against the two officers involved in the shooting, they have been suspended and an investigation against them has started.
