Verified Facebook Page of Allama Iqbal is both Funny & Confusing

A verified page of the famous poet of the subcontinent, Allama Iqbal is on Facebook. It looks like its registered as a business as there is a ‘Shop Now’ option. But it is really funny.

On the page, it is written ‘Allama Iqbal, Public Figure in Lahore, Pakistan’

So it’s funny & quite confusing that it is written that Allama Iqbal is a public figure in Lahore but he died on April 21st, 1938.

Allama Iqbal is verified by Facebook with a blue badge as you can see below. But in reality it’s not Allama Iqbal who is being verified by Facebook, it is the brand or society of Allama Iqbal that is verified.

This is the definition of a verified page by Facebook

“Some Pages and profiles have been verified by Facebook to let people know that they’re authentic:

If you see a blue badge on a Page or profile, it means that Facebook confirmed that this is the authentic Page or profile for this public figure, media company or brand. Keep in mind that not all public figures, celebrities, and brands on Facebook have blue badges.”

So this page might have been verified under brand category but giving it the name Allama Iqbal and not mentioning its a society or a business on the front page raises questions.

For instance, this image shows that Allama Iqbal was live 2 years ago.

Also on the verified Facebook page of the dead poet of Indo-Pak, there are posts, pictures, videos and events that are being uploaded.

People have reviewed the page, there are millions of likes on the page as seen below.

When this person in the comment say ‘I love this man’, it is again confusing, do you love the admin who is running the page, the brand or Allama Iqbal?

There are many people who are dead but their brands are still running by their name, like J., Junaid Jamshed. But his brand comes under ‘Clothing Brand’ category and it is mentioned but Allama Iqbal page is run under ‘Public Figure’ category, though it is used for business purposes. Thus it creates confusion for the people.
