The Electronic Beam (E-Beam) tech facility has been launched by the US Consul General JoAnne Wagner for the agriculture sector in Pakistan. The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) under the Agricultural Market Development (AMD) program supported to create the facility.

The aim of the AMD program from USAID in the country is to improve the ability of Pakistan’s commercial agriculture and livestock market. It will help them compete in the global and national markets effectively.
It helps Pakistan compete in 4 target product lines that meat, mangoes, high-value, and off-season vegetables and citrus.
The electronic beam tech facility will be beneficial to the agriculture sector by reducing food losses during the post-harvest time.
The main benefits of electronic beam technology for the agriculture sector are that it will reduce the disease-causing microorganisms, enhance the shelf life of food products, control insects, larvae and eggs, the unchanged nutritional value of the products and it is extremely efficient and has short treatment times.
