Urdu Feature Film ‘My Pure Land’ Nominated For Oscars 2018

Britain has chosen My Pure Land in the foreign language film category, for Oscars 2018 submissions. It is an Urdu language feature film made by a Pakistani director Sarmad Masud. It is confirmed that this film made under Bill Kenwright Films production will most probably win an Oscar this year.

The film is shot in Pakistan, and it revolves around a mother and her two daughters. The women fight to defend their home against an army of some 200-odd bandits.

The cast of the film includes Suhaee Abro, Salman Ahmed Khan, Razia Malik, Tayyab Ifzal and Eman Fatima in the lead roles. It’s fascinating how rural Pakistan is captured in the film. The film is about truth, justice and strength women have in Pakistan.

It was first displayed at Edinburgh Film Festival and then released in the UK on 15th of September. It would be quite historic if an Urdu film wins an Oscar in the upcoming year. 4th March 2018, is the day when we will know for sure.
