Travelling to the United Kingdom would now become costlier than before from now on for the Pakistani migrants. The United Kingdom is taking the decision of increasing the price of the UK visa for the Pakistanis and the other non-European Union citizens.
The prices have been surged owing to the United Kingdom is increasing almost twice the price of the immigration health surcharge (HIS), which is to be paid when students, investors, family members and businessmen apply for the visa.
Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS) was for the first time introduced in 2015 with the objective of providing migrants access to the National Health Service during their stay in the United Kingdom.
The IHS would be doubled from the 8th of January as per the reports of Hindustan Times. The surcharge would be hiked from £200 to £400 annually which means that it would be costing nearly Rs70,000.
Last month, the foreign minister of Pakistan—Shah Mehmood Qureshi expressed his hope that Brexit would be opening up new opportunities for trade and business between the United Kingdom and Pakistan.
The finance minister applauded the bilateral ties and stressed that the United Kingdom was a crucial investment and trade alliance of Pakistan.
