Uber—one of the leading global mobile application, that connects the riders to the drivers currently operating in seven cities of Pakistan, conducted a Driver Safety Workshop in association with different law enforcement agencies.
During the session, the team of Uber and the representatives from the law enforcement agencies gave presentations on the safety tips for the drivers but also educated them relating the traffic laws of the city.
Drivers were also provided with a chance to ask questions and their queries were resolved by the authorities—this helped in making the session more interactive and cooperative.
A presentation was also given by the Police representatives. The presentation was impactful and was aimed at discussing the significance of the safety on roads and how could the society members contribute towards the making of a better future. The presentation also covered the latest local traffic laws and measures and tips that could be adopted for ensuring safer rides.
Dr Sultan Azam Temuri—Inspector General of Police (IGP)—Islamabad, while speaking about the workshop said that it is a good step taken by Uber for conducting these workshop session as this is crucial for everyone to know the traffic laws and how to keep oneself safe on the road and avoid any kind of accidents or mishaps. He further applauded the efforts made by Uber for educating and bringing awareness among the people relating road safety.
Malik Matloob—Senior Superintendent (SSP)—Islamabad Traffic Police said that abiding by the road safety protocols is essential for every driver. He added that in the workshop today we made sure to communicate this message. He showed his support for the measures taken by Uber regarding the road safety and added that would look forward to partnering on promoting such issues even in future.
Aemad Mehdi—Uber Pakistan—Head of Operations said on the occasion that safety is the basic preference of Uber and it is in continuous efforts for making it much improved. He told that based on the feedback and information obtained from Uber drivers, subject matter experts and the law enforcement agencies, they developed some tips, which were shared with the drivers.
He concluded by adding that Uber is keen on being the most secure way of transportation both for it’s riders and drivers.
