Two Pakistanis Featured in ‘Sunday Times Rich List 2018’

Two Pakistani-origin British businessmen are included in Sunday Times rich list 2018’. They are among British nationals having a net worth of more than one billion pounds.

Anwar Pervez born in Gujar Khan is the first Pakistani born British national who has a net worth of 3.09 billion pounds. His rank on Sunday Times Rich List fell from 40th to 43rd.

The rise of Anwar Pervez is quite an inspirational story. He came to the UK when he was 21 years old. He set up a convenience store in west London with his savings. Then in 1976, he established a warehouse with whatever money he had. He called it Bestway. Today Bestway is one of the leading business groups in England and around the world.

After being in the cash and carry industry for decades, finally, Bestway Group has decided to expand. In Pakistan, Bestway Cement is the second biggest producer, with huge exports to Afghanistan.

The second Pakistani-origin British billionaire in the list is Zameer Chaudrey, the chief executive, and co-founder of the Bestway Group. He is also the nephew of Anwar Pervez. His net worth is £1.2 billion.

Right at the top of the list is British chemical tycoon named Jim Ratcliffe. His net worth is over 21 billion pounds. Other than these there are many Indian-origin businessmen on the list like Lakshmi Mittal is fifth on the ‘Sunday Times rich list 2018’ with a net worth of 14.6 billion pounds. On the 25th spot is Sr Prakash Lohia, an industrialist & brother in law of Lakshmi Mittal. His net worth is of 5.1 billion pounds

Mohammed Al Fayed Egyptian-born businessman has the 79th spot on the list with a net worth of 1.7 billion pounds.
