Two more crew members of the national air carrier Pakistan International Airlines’ (PIA) have tested positive for the novel coronavirus. This was confirmed by the Punjab Health Minister, Dr. Yasmin Rashid.
“All five members of the PIA flight that returned from Canada have tested positive.”
All these members have been shifted to the isolation wards in a private hospital. They are receiving due medical attention.
On Monday, a female flight attendant, and two flight pilots of the same flight tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
The special flight from Toronto took off from Pakistan in April and returned on April 5th, Sunday. It was stranded for several days there.
It is pertinent to mention here that 4 crew members of a London-returned PIA plane were shifted forcefully to quarantine on Sunday.
This incident took place at the Karachi airport. The Sindh health officials compelled the PIA crew to leave the plane and shift to quarantine.
After this incident took place, Pakistan Airline Pilot Association (PALPA) asked its members to halt the flight operation. As per the association’s spokesperson, the Sindh government’s handling crew members were unfair and against the SOPs of the Government of Pakistan.
Air Marshal Arshad Malik, PIA CEO gave the announcement of shifting the flight operations from Karachi to Lahore Airport.
