Two foreign nationals have been arrested at the New Islamabad International Airport for Drug Smuggling.

Airport Security Force (ASF) held the two Nigerians for smuggling heroin at the airport. The Nigerians namely Johnson and Jennifer were taking 1,446 grams and 360 grams heroin with them. The Airport officials checked and recovered it from their luggage.

The Nigerian travelers were trying to smuggle the heroine to Dubai, United Arab Emirates, through a flight no. PK233 at New Islamabad International Airport.

Airport Security Force officials handed over the foreign nationals to the Anti-Narcotics Force so that further investigation can be done.

A similar incident took place in January when a Czech Republic national woman Tereza Hluskova, 21 years of age was stopped at Lahore airport for smuggling 9 kg of heroin. The customs officials in Pakistan arrested her at Allama Iqbal International Airport as she was trying to smuggle drugs to Abu Dhabi.

Presently, she is in a Pakistani jail on a judicial remand. The smuggling case against her is still pending in a trial court in Lahore.

It is pertinent to mention here that the New Islamabad International Airport was officially inaugurated by Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on May 3rd.  PK-300 carrying 150 travelers was the first flight from Karachi to land at the New Islamabad International Airport.

Quite recently, Intel Reports warned of an attack on the New Islamabad International Airport, thus the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has issued a red alert in the whole airport. So the security of the airport is already on high alert.
