Twitter Verifies Forty-Five Accounts of Govt. Representatives


Earlier today, Twitter has verified forty-five accounts of federal government representatives. The accounts included Deputy Speaker of National Assembly, Senate of Pakistan, President of Pakistan, PM initiatives, and Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

As per the media wing, there is a blue badge on Twitter that will let people know that a particular account of public interest is reliable. That badge can be seen next to the name on the profile of an account. It also appears in the search results next to the account name.

The reports said that the Digital Media Wing (DMW) has further developed a communication channel with the Twitter office within the region in order so that the issues can be addressed immediately and can get Twitter support in Pakistan.

The general manager of the Digital Media Wing Imran Ghazali stated that although this is a small step but is a very significant part of the overall strategy to support the digital presence of the government of Pakistan.

According to the general manager, Because of the threat of fake news, disinformation, and fake accounts, it is important for the government to have certified accounts to broadcast genuine news and information.
