“We’ve made the decision to stop all political advertising on Twitter globally. We believe political message reach should be earned, not bought. Why? A few reasons…,” Jack Dorsey, the Chief executive of the company said in a tweet.

He further said that a political message by the politicians earns reach when people decide to follow an account or retweet on twitter. “Paying for reach removes that decision, forcing highly optimized and targeted political messages on people. We believe this decision should not be compromised by money,” he added.

Jack Dorsey further announced that the new ads policy, details of which will be unveiled next month and enforced from November 22, would ban the political ads as well as from the candidates.
