Donald Trump—the US President spoke with the Indian Prime Minister—Narendra Modi on Monday. Trump asked Modi to reduce tensions with Pakistan over the issue of the disputed Kashmir region.
Hogan Gidley—the spokesperson of White House said in a statement that the president has conveyed the significance of decreasing the tensions between India and Pakistan and of maintaining peace in the region.
The statement came following the measure taken by New Delhi of revoking the special constitutional status of IOK, increasing the tensions between Pakistan and India.
Trump during his meeting with the Prime Minister of Pakistan—Imran Khan last month had proposed to facilitate in resolving the Kashmir dispute saying that he was asked by the Indian Prime Minister to mediate on the matter.
The White House further added that the two leaders further had a discussion that they would be continuing to strengthen the United States-India economic relations via increased trade and that they look forward to having a meeting again soon.
