In Rawalpindi, people are paying their vehicle taxes via mobile wallet service but they are complaining that they are not receiving any payment receipt or any confirmation text on their mobile phones.
The citizens fear the chances of a new monetary scandal as they are not getting any record of their payments which are being made through their phones.
Even the motorists are getting worried that they are not receiving any kind of confirmation SMS after paying the taxes through the phone. Protests are being carried out by the transporters’ organizations in this regard.
On the other hand, Rickshaw, trucks, and bus drivers are mostly non-tech-savvy but still touts have come forth all around the excise building. Rs.500 is being charged from all the taxpayers in order to get a commission for their services to make online vehicle tax payments.
The non-issuance of the receipts or confirmation SMS of the tax payments is making everyone worried, said Tariq Khan and Asif Khan Representatives of transporters.
In order to figure out this issue, they suggested an alternative way of receiving token tax which is through post offices or banks.
