A new traffic management system has been introduced in Abbottabad to control the huge traffic issues on the main Manshera Road and Murree Road of the area.
Muhammad Ishfaq, District Police Officer Abbottabad made this announcement at Jalal Baba Auditorium Abbottabad while inaugurating the new traffic management plan.
DPO said that quite a lot of discussion session was held with the transporters, traders, media companies and other investors before this system is finally launched.
Suzuki pickups and High roofs would be given Numbers 1 and 2, so on their day, they would come on the road while the next day would be off. Similarly, school vans are bound by this procedure as well except during the school timings.
Also, the public transport that goes through various routes is given stickers so that they can be identified through their route.
Another major traffic congestion issue is due to the huge public transport coming from Haripur and Mansehra. To resolve this problem a committee is formed led by Lt Gen (Retd) Ayaz Rana. The members part of this committee would be Secretary Regional Transport Authority (RTA), SP traffic Abbottabad, president transporters unions and president traders unions.
The major cause of traffic congestion in Abbottabad as addressed by Rana is a lack of transport terminals. For public transport, a new terminal is built at INOR and furthermore, three terminals are planned.
