Traders Demand to Keep Markets Open till Midnight


As per the reports of local media, the traders have demanded the government of Sindh to keep the markets open until midnight.

Atiq Mir, the chairman of the All Karachi Tajir Ittehad demanded the Sindh government to allow businesses to stay open after Iftar until Chand Raat. He further announced that the traders will open their shops under the SOPs after Iftar even if they are not granted permission.

He also asked the city administration to de-seal the markets that have been sealed over the violation of SOPs.

In the meantime, the Leader of the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Qasim Siraj Teli asked the government to relax the restriction so of the lockdown for a week from Monday until Saturday.

He also said that coronavirus has become a part of the lives and will not go away. He further mentioned that traders cannot keep their businesses closed forever. He emphasized on the need for working out ways for allowing the businesses to operate in these pandemic crises.

It is pertinent to mention that the government of Punjab has permitted the shopping malls to reopen from Monday.

Mian Muhammad Aslam Iqbal of the Punjab Industries and Commerce Minister said that the shopkeepers will have to wear masks and make use of the hand sanitizers, also they would be required to check the temperatures of the customers at the entrance points of the malls with a thermal gun.
