On Wednesday, the traders announced to observe a 2-day countrywide strike on the 28th and 29th of October against the decision of the government of asking them to present a copy of their CNICs for the sale and purchase of goods.
Talks were held between the traders and the Federal Board of Revenue—FBR which failed.
Traders also announced observing a one-hour strike on a per-day basis starting from the 15th of this month. They once again refused to accept the decision of the government regarding presenting a copy of the ID card during purchases.
Ajmal Baloch—the President of All Pakistan Markazi Anjuman-e-Tajiran while talking to the media said that the traders would not be accepting the government’s decision. He also said that the traders’ would be observing a nationwide strike on the 28th and 29th of October.
Traders also put forward their demand and asked the government to fulfill its demand for fixed tax, adding that the tax officials are harassing them.
Traders have said that the protest would continue until their demands are met.
Previously, hundreds of traders protested in the capital city against the tax reforms introduced by the government. The protest was demonstrated in front of the FBR office.
