It was speculated that Toyota will be discontinuing popular 1.3 liters Toyota Corolla’s Xli & GLi variants and will replace it with Toyota Vios sedan. But now news reports claim that IMC Toyota is planning to launch Yaris sedan instead of Vios.
Earlier reports stated that Toyota will launch Vios by mid-2018 but due to the rupee devaluation against the dollar and the usual economic conditions of Pakistan, the plan was abandoned.
Now the industry insiders reveal that IMC is planning to launch Yaris sedan. It is too early to say whether Yaris will be a replacement of Corolla variants or if it would be a completely new model.
The price of the Yaris model will be less than that of Vios even though both the cars have a similar platform. They are alike in terms of their dimensions, suspension, and other features. The interior of both vehicles is also quite similar.
Also in some markets, Yaris sedan is known as Vios and vice versa. First, the Yaris sedan was revealed in Thailand. Complying by the Eco car policies of the country it has a smaller engine. It was equipped with -cylinder 1.2-liter petrol Dual VVT-I engine mater with a Super CVT-i transmission.
On the other hand, Yaris or Vios is equipped with a 1.5-liter engine in other countries. It is pertinent to mention here that Toyota is also testing the Daihatsu Bezza sedan.
