For the month of June, Toyota is offering a discount on its new Sedan Yaris and other models in India. The company wants to increase its sales by offering discounts and other offers n India.
However, the company surged the prices of Toyota Yaris in Pakistan by up to Rs150,000. Back in March 2020, Toyota Yaris was launched in Pakistan. The sales of the car were down due to the coronavirus pandemic and the lockdown situation in the country. Even there were no sales of the car in Pakistan, Toyota increased the prices of Yaris in the country.
In India, Toyota is offering up to INR 72,500 (PKR 1.58 lac) discounts and compensation for the people buying the car. Toyota said that the buyers will have INR 20,000 (PKR 43,700) cash discount, along with INR 20,000 (PKR 43,700) compensation as an exchange bonus. Also, the company is offering INR 32,500 (PKR 71,000) discount to the frontline health workers fighting against the novel coronavirus.
Now if we look at the sales of the car in India, since its launch in May 2018 to Feb 2020 the company has sold 15,009 units in Pakistan, averaging 682 cars per month. However, its competitors Hyundai Verna, Suzuki Ciaz, and Honda City has sold 3,000 units per month on average.
Now in Pakistan as per the Pakistan Automobile Manufacturers Association (PAMA), zero Toyota Yaris cars were sold in the month of April, 167 cars were sold in May and it is expected that the sale would increase in the month of May as the lockdown restrictions have been eased by the government.
