Tom Hanks, the American actor and the filmmaker and his wife have tested positive for the coronavirus, the first celebrities to go public with a diagnosis of the virus.
The Oscar-winner took it to social media on his Instagram that both he and his wife felt ill before they were tested for the virus. The married couple was in Australia for production of Baz Luhrmann’s untitled Elvis Presley movie, in which Hanks is playing the iconic manager of Presley, Colonel Tom Parker.
The news came out as President Donald Trump made the announcement of a 30-day suspension on travel from Europe to the US owing to the spread of the coronavirus.
Previously on Wednesday, the World Health Organization has officially announced COVID-19 which is a global pandemic.
There have been more than 115,000 cases of coronavirus cases confirmed across the world, and the disease has taken the lives of more than 4,200 people.
