Last year, Donald Trump, while presiding over the presidential seat, executed an order to ban TikTok and WeChat from the USA. Today, the current government has revoked that order.

The order from the then-president claimed that these apps are a threat to users’ personal information. Though, the presidential order was never actually executed. If it would, it could have resulted in these apps being banned from app stores. The actual plan was to ban WeChat on September 20, while TikTok on November 12.

On the other hand, ByteDance, TikTok’s parent company, tried to sell off TikTok’s US operations to an American company and control user data. Many companies were running to acquire the app, and Oracle was at the top.

Now that the previous order has been revoked, TikTok could remain operational in the country. However, the new orders are to review apps controlled by foreign states. According to the source, the US administration said that the directive would establish “clear intelligible criteria” for determining national security risks.
