In the Shafiqabd area of the NA-125 constituency Lahore, three bags were found containing hundreds of Computerised National Identity Cards (CNIC). The bags were found in a garbage can, just a day before the Pakistan general elections 2018.
Trash Pickers found these bags. The CNICs found in these bags belonged to the residents of the area. The area comes under NA-125 constituency of Lahore. From this constituency Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s Yasmin Rashid and Pakistan Muslim League–Nawaz’s Waheed Alam are contesting elections. PTI’s representative Yasmin Rashid said that they have sent their lawyers to the police station to inquire about the CNICs, claiming that it can be an attempt for pre-poll rigging.
The police have taken these bags and will start an investigation into the matter. Fake ballot papers were also found by police today in Umerkot, Sindh and Shangla KPK. Nine suspects have been arrested by the police, considered to be involved in this crime.
Pakistan General Elections 2018 will be held tomorrow on 25th July 2018. Pakistan will go out to vote for their choice and decide who will become the next Prime Minister of Pakistan. In the last elections in 2013, Pakistan chose PML-N and made Nawaz Sharif the Prime Minister of Pakistan who was later disqualified and recently jailed along with his daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law Capt Safdar. Who will it be now? Imran Khan, Shehbaz Sharif or Bilawal Bhutto?
Whoever we chose it is extremely important that elections are free, fair, and impartial. Incidents like these where CNICs have been stolen or fake ballot papers are found can affect elections result. Thus we can only hope that the party which Pakistani people really chose get into power.
