Ali Khan Tareen—the son of the former Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf secretary general Jahangir Tareen, has officially announced the name of 6th PSL team for Pakistan Super League (PSL). The 6th PSL team was recently bought by Ali Tareen. The official announcement of the franchise name was made on Sunday.
In a video message posted on the social media platform—Twitter, Ali Tareen said that he has taken the decision to retain the former name of Multan Sultans after receiving feedback from the fans in South Punjab.
He further added that there were many name suggestions from the citizens which included names likes Multan Malang, Multan Bahadur and many others. He informed that, however, a good number of citizens suggested Multan Sultan and so he decided to go with the majority.
Young Tareen added that personally, he was in more likeness of the name Multan Bahadur.
On the 20th of December, Ali Tareen led the Multan consortium to win the franchise rights for the 6th team of the PSL.
As per a tweet by PSL, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had fixed the reserve price at $5.21 million per year for a span of 7 years. The reserved price has been crossed by the bid winners.
The spot of the 6th team was available after Multan Sultans were disqualified just after their first appearance in the PSL edition.
The franchise rights of Multan Sultans were terminated by PCB on the 10th of November to the Schon Group owing to their incompetence in meeting the financial obligations as per the PSL agreement.
The 2019 edition of the most thrilling cricket league would be starting from the 14th of February in Dubai.
