According to the data shared by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), the import of vehicles in October worth $200.8 million. This is an increase of 32.2% on a month-on-month basis.
In September 2020, the import of vehicles was valued at $151.8 million. Whereas the import was valued at $108.3 million during September 2019.
According to PBS, the year-on-year import reached 85.39% in October 2020.
From July to October this year, the total import of Transport group fell down to $615 million which was $646.4 million during the same period in 2019.
The group includes all road motor vhicles, completely built units (CBU) including; buses, trucks, cars, and bikes, completely knocked down (CKD) units, parts & accessories, aircraft, ships, boats, and other transport equipment.
The most imported type of vehicle belonged to Road Motor Vehicles (Build Units) and contributed more than $149.6 million worth of vehicles.
However, during 4MFY21 the road motor vehicles import witnessed a decline of 3% on a year-on-year basis i.e. it was $475.3 million in FY21 whereas, in FY20, it was $490 million.
In addition to this, CBU imports during this period were recorded at $88 million. Of them, motor cars valued at $57.8 million.
The import of CKD or semi-knocked down (SKD) units were recorded at $276.9 million. Within this group, the import of buses, trucks, and other heavy vehicles recorded at $64.9 million, while motor cars at $196.7 million and motorcycles at $15.26 million.
Whereas according to the source information, the total import value of aircraft, ships, and boats was recorded at $137.49 million, and that of parts & accessories the recorded value was $88.9 million.
