Terminations at COMSATS a Saddening Event

Relating the termination of more than three-hundred employees of COMSATS, Pakistan Universities Academic Staff Association (FAPUASA) expressed intense disappointment.
FAPUASA condemned this act by the university and voiced its opinion openly.

COMSATS Institute of Information Technology is a multi-campus public research institute of Pakistan. It was made in the year 1994 by the Commission on Science and Technology for Sustainable Development in the South.

The fired employees include faculty members, contractual employees, people who used to work on daily wages and advisors. This termination act could prove really bad especially for the people who use to work on daily wages. Some individuals have entire families dependent on their sole income.

Some of these employees had an employment history of more than thirteen years with the organization.
The terminations were sudden and were not abiding any prescribed process, as per the statements of FAPUASA. Every organization has some termination procedure that it follows even when the firm intends to fire its employees.
It also mentioned that despite being a public-sector organization COMSATS is being managed as a private asset.

The association demanded that COMSATS better take in the employees it has terminated and restore their employment.

The President, Prime Minister and the Minister of Science and Technology were also requested by the FAPUASA to look into the matter of this illegal terminations by the COMSATS’s administration.

Let us hope and wish well for the terminated employees.
