Ten small dams would be constructed in the city of Rawalpindi.
As per the shared details, the Rawalpindi Forest Department has approved the construction of 10 small dams for the conservation of rainwater.
These reservoirs will be constructed in the forests in the four mountainous tehsils of the division. The district forest department will bear the expenditures incurred on the building of reservoirs.

The accumulated rainwater will be used for irrigation purposes along with fulfilling the water needs of domestic animals. The water can also be used to extinguish forest fires.
Forest Department Spokesperson Muhammad Nauman said that construction on the reservoirs has commenced. He added that work on the projects is anticipated to be completed by December after which the rainwater will be wasted.
The official said that the water stored in the reservoirs would be used for drinking purposes as well after purification via filtration plants.
