Ten Pak Universities Ranked among Top Universities in the World

In the Times Higher Education (THE)’s list, ten Pakistani universities have been ranked among the top universities in the world. A weekly UK-based magazine THEE has issued its yearly list of most influential universities in the world.

‘University Impact Rankings 2019’ list includes 10 Pak universities in different categories. These categories include gender equality, good health and well-being, quality education, decent work, economic growth, and others.

The universities have been assessed on the basis of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.

Research, outreach, and stewardship are areas that are used to draw comparisons among universities.

Pakistan’s NED University of Engineering and Technology was ranked 5th in the ‘Gender Equality’ category. The overall ranking of the university was 100-200.

The University of Agriculture, Faisalabad was ranked third in the ‘Good Health and Well-being for People’ category and third in the ‘Climate Action’ category. Its overall ranking was 201-300.

Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology was ranked 4th and 9th in the category of ‘Quality Education,’ and ‘Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure’. Its overall ranking was 201-300.

Lahore’s University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences was ranked 3rd in ‘Good Health and Well-being for People’ category and 10th in ‘Reducing Inequalities’ category. Its overall ranking was 201-300.

The Islamabad campus of COMSATS University was ranked 3rd in ‘Good Health and Well-being for People’ and 8th in the ‘Decent Work and Economic Growth’ category while its overall ranking was 301+.

Government College University Lahore ranking was 5th in the category of ‘Gender Equality,’ and 10th in ‘Reducing Inequalities’.

The International Islamic University, Islamabad was ranked 5th in the category of ‘Gender Equality,’ and 11th in ‘Sustainable Cities and Communities’. Its overall ranking was 301+.

National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), Islamabad was ranked 4th in the field of ‘Quality Education,’ 5th in ‘Gender Equality,’ and 9th in the ‘Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure’. Its overall ranking was 301+. The University of Peshawar’s overall ranking was 301+ while it secured 3rd and 11th spot in Good Health and Well-being for People’ and ‘Sustainable Cities and Communities’ category.

Quaid-i-Azam University’s overall ranking was 301+ while it secured the 5th and 10th position in ‘Gender Equality,’ and ‘Reducing Inequalities.’
