Summer season is loved by many people. With the hot sunny days comes the problem of skin, as it often gets dehydrated, becomes oily and gets easily irritable. Suntan increases the risk of skin ageing and pigmentation. For avoiding all these issues or for the protection of skin people need to keep extra care of their skin without using chemicals. With the availability of so many fruits and vegetables, one could make hundred per cent natural face masks that would not only keep the skin hydrated but also keeps it fresh and moisturised.

Here is the list of ten homemade masks that could be tried this summer.

1) Honey + Yoghurt + Rose Water

This mask has got many uncountable benefits. The yoghurt itself is the best remedy for sunburnt skin in need of moisturization, while rose water keeps the skin oil free and keeps it looking fresh and glowing.

Method to Prepare:

  • 2 tbsp. of yoghurt
  • 1 tbsp. of honey
  • 1 tbsp. of rose water

Mix all these ingredients properly and apply on face for 20 mins. Wash off and enjoy a freshened skin!

2) Strawberry + Lemon + Yoghurt + Honey

This yoghurt-based vitamin-packed mask is best to bring the open pore skin back to normal. Lemon tightens the skin pores, while strawberries are good with breakouts. Yoghurt provides an overall cooling effect on the skin.

Method to Prepare:

  • 4-5 strawberries
  • 1 tbsp. of honey
  • 2 tbsp. of fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp. of yoghurt

Mash the strawberries. Mix all the ingredients together carefully. Apply on face and let it dry for nearly around ten to fifteen mins. Wash off and enjoy!

3) Papaya

Papaya is provided with anti-ageing properties and aids to remove the dead skin cells. It also moisturizes the dry skin and keeps control of the face oil.
The best part of this face mask is that just one ingredient is needed to make it.

Method to Prepare:

Take a few pieces of papaya, mash them into a paste and apply on the face for fifteen minutes. The face could be covered with a few pieces of cotton so that the mask may stay on the face.

4) Coffee + Coconut Milk

Caffeine reduces the puffiness and acts like a detoxifier. Coffee works as an amazing natural exfoliator.

Method to Prepare:

  • 3 tsp. of chilled coconut milk
  • 3 tsp. of grounded coffee

Mix both the ingredients until a paste is formed. Apply on the face by slowly massaging. Wait for nearly twenty minutes for the mask to dry and do its wonders and rinse it off with warm water.

5) Chocolate + Cream + Honey

The cream (milk also works) moisturizes the skin, honey heals and calms down the irritated skin and chocolate increases the blood flow—which makes the skin look fresh and re-energized.

Method to Prepare:

  • Some dark chocolate or 2 tbsps. Of cocoa powder
  • 3 tbsp. of honey
  • 1 tbsp. of milk

Mix the chocolate and honey together until a thick paste is formed, blend in milk and put the mixture on the face in one thin layer. Wait until it dries then wash it off. The face would look magic afterwards.

6) Avocado + Coconut + Honey

Avocado provides skin all the nutrition it requires, making the skin soft and creamy, while coconut gives the needed moisture. Honey helps in the restoration of scaly and damaged skin.

Method to Prepare:

  • ½ Avocado
  • 1 tsp. of coconut oil
  • 2 tbsp. of honey

Mash avocado into a creamy texture, then add the remaining ingredients. Mix them all well and put on the face for 15 mins, let it dry and wash off with warm water.

7) Sandalwood + Rose Water

Sandalwood has got a wonderful cooling effect, while rose water tones the skin and re-energizes it.

Method to Prepare:

  • 3 tsp. of sandalwood powder
  • 3 tbsps. Of rose water.

Mix the ingredients well until a gentle paste is formed. Apply on the face and wash off with warm water. The effect of the mask would be felt immediately.

8) Mint + Turmeric

Mint has got amazing soothing properties and could calm done the nerves effectively, as well as the irritated skin. It could make one feel fresh and the turmeric powder could help in getting rid of the unneeded breakouts and pimples owing to its antibiotic properties.

 

Method to Prepare:

  • A handful of mint leaves (make a paste of them)
  • Pinch of turmeric powder

Mix both the things and add a few tbsps. of warm water and put on the face. Wait for 5-10 mins and wash off the mask to feel the fresh and cool effect instantly.

9) Cucumber + Oats + Yoghurt

Cucumbers and summers go hand in hand because of their cooling properties, while oats are filled with antioxidants and their anti-inflammatory properties assist the dry and itchy skin to heal quickly.

Method to Prepare:

  • 1 tsp. of cucumber juice
  • 1 tsp. Greek yoghurt
  • 3 tsp. of oats

Mix all the ingredients together. Apply the mixture on face until it dries completely. Rinse it off and enjoy the fresh feel of the skin!

10) Tomato + Honey

Tomatoes are full of vitamins, and are good for lightening the suntanned or sunburnt skin, while honey helps in removing the excess oil and has got antibiotic properties that would help in healing the acne breakouts and pimples.

Method to Prepare:

  • The pulp of 1-2 tomatoes
  • 1 tbsp. of honey

Mix the two ingredients and apply on the face, leave it for ten mins until it dries and does its wonders. Please note that the skin might feel a bit itchy.
