By the end of 2018, Telenor was ranked as the world’s fastest mobile network operator for the second-quarter of 2018 by Ookla. According to latest reports, Telenor has been ranked the world’s fastest mobile network for the whole of 2018. Telenor had the highest average download speed of 71.97.
In order to test the internet speed and performance, Ookla’s Speedtest is an effective tool. More than 20 billion tests have been taken by Speedtest since its inception back in 2006.
Acting CEO of Telenor Norway Bjørn Ivar Moen spoke at the achievement and said, “For more than a century, Telenor has been building a solid foundation in order to deliver the very best services possible. However, our country continues to challenge us with its vast mountains and deep fjords. That is why we’re especially proud of these results. We have ambitious expansion plans moving forward and these will continue throughout 2019.”
CEO of Ookla Doug Suttles said, “It’s an absolute pleasure to once again congratulate Telenor Norway for having the world’s fastest mobile network – this time for the entirety of 2018. It’s a challenging task to sustain a stable and high performing network, and we are very impressed by the good work being done by Telenor Norway. We at Ookla look forward to seeing more innovative and exciting solutions from Telenor Norway this coming year for the benefit of both their customers and the telecommunications industry as a whole.”
An official source at Telenor revealed that the Telenor’s data traffic around the world is increased annually by 30 to 40%. Thus the goal of the telecom operator is clear that is gradually phase out 3G from country to country and increase the 4G networks capacity.
It is pertinent to mention that in Pakistan, Jazz is still the leading operator instead of Telenor.
