Mahmood Khan—the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has made the announcement that the pilot project of the Swat Motorway would be opened for all kinds of traffic on the 1st of May 2019. The announcement was made on Wednesday.
The decision of opening the motorway was taken during a meeting of the Chief Minister with the Federal Minister for Communication.
The attendees of the meeting who took part to review and exchange views on the speed of progress and development on the Swat Motorway project were Director General Frontier Works Organization, Secretary Irrigation, Chairman Highways Authority, Project Director Swat Motorway, MD Pakhtunkhwa Highways Authority and Chairman Highways Authority.

The meeting anticipated that the motorway would be ready for inauguration, hence, it took the decision that on the 1st of May 2019 the inaugural ceremony of the official vehicular traffic would be held.
The meeting talked on the extension of the Swat Motorway and all agreed to extend for the integration of the complete Malakand division with the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Recently, it was in the news that a night navigation system has been launched at Port Qasim for the large vessels, which is a development in the history of Pakistan. The start of this system would enable 24/7 uninterrupted docking of ships at the port, which was done only in mornings earlier.
