Supreme Court of Pakistan has summoned the details of funds spent on the newly build Islamabad International Airport. A suo motu case relating to the rainwater flooding at the New Islamabad Airport was being heard by a two-judge bench headed by Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar. Authorities were asked to provide the CCTV footage of the airport flooded with rainwater. Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) managing director and Islamabad station manager are also summoned on 13th June.
As per a Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) official, the video all over the internet showing new Islamabad Airport flooded with rainwater is not new. It is more than a year old.
But huge construction flaws revealed in the new Islamabad airport after the recent rainfall in the twin cities. The roof started dripping. The HR and briefing area was flooded with rainwater along with the passenger lounge. It is disturbing that after 13 years of construction, Rs100 billion spent on it and one single rainfall can do so much damage. The passengers, their luggage, staff members, in short, the whole airport suffered due to a rainfall.
