The PPP-led provincial government of Sindh and the Mayor of Karachi Wasim Akhtar have been ordered by the top court of the country to demolish all illegal buildings in the city in one week.
The Supreme Court of Pakistan issued the order on Thursday during the hearing of the case on reviving the Karachi Circular Railway and removing encroachments in the city.
“It seems that the government doesn’t want the Karachi Circular Railway (KCR) to run,” Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Gulzar Ahmed said during the hearing of the case.
The Pakistan Railways secretary and advocate-general placed the blamed on the PTI-led federal government of Pakistan for causing the delay. The Chief of the Supreme Court, during the hearing at Karachi registry, said that the KCR project is being delayed because of the political agenda of the officials of the government.
He further ordered the concerned authorities that all the illegal buildings should be demolished adding that he doesn’t was to hear any more excuses.
