The Supreme Court of Pakistan has ordered all managing directors who have served Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) from the past ten years to appear before the apex court on April 12.
A Chief Justice-led three-member bench heard a suo motu case concerning the proposed privatization of the national airline.
The Supreme Court ordered concerned PIA MD to submit the audited statements of accounts to the apex court in the next hearing.
The court had taken a notice of why the profitable routes of the national airline allegedly being taken away from PIA and being awarded to the private airlines of Pakistan, especially to the Air Blue. Supreme Court had also barred the PIA authorities from making news recruitments in the airline until the further orders from the court.
Chairman Pakistan Airline, the Minister of Defence and the Federation of Pakistan are yet to submit their replies to the court on both matters.
