Summer Vacations 2018 Announced in Pakistan


As summer is approaching, students are nervous about exam preparations and excited about the three months long summer holidays. In a notification issued by Government of Punjab, School Education Department it is clearly stated from 1st June to 14th August 2018, summer vacations will be held in all government and private educational institutions of Punjab. Other than this all holidays from 23rd March to Labor’s Day, Eid ul Azha, and Fitr, Ashura, Christmas, Winter Vacations are written in the notification.

It is written in the notification that “In pursuance of the provisions contained in Article 37 & 41 of the Punjab Education Code and Notification No. SOW-I(S&GAD)1-3/2008(P-II)  dated 12.2.2018, issued by the Section Officer (Welfare-I), S&GAD the following Holiday’s schedule would be observed in all Schools/Educational Institutions in the Punjab province during the Calender year 2018.”

As Ramadan will start early this year around May 17 or 18, there is a chance that Summer Vacations may start early this year. Usually, school administrations try to close the schools before the start of Ramadan so that students can fast from the ease of their homes.

Last year in Sindh due to Ramadan and extremely hot weather the summer vacations were re-scheduled from 1st Ramadan to 31-7-2017 instead of 01-06-2017 to 31-7-2017. This year in UAE it is confirmed that Ramadan will fall on May 17, 2018. So can we expect the start of Summer Vacations from as early as May 17th?

Summer Vacations are the most anticipated holidays of the year. Families plan long vacations, holiday destinations, and make all the plans beforehand. The main goal of summer vacations is to provide a degree of relaxation, comfort, and enjoyment to students in severely hot weather. It is the most enjoyable period for families as they plan long trips and visit northern areas of Pakistan or the southern side and explore the untapped beauty of the country.
