According to a National Highway Authority (NHA) official, the Sukkur-Multan Motorway will be operational by August 2019. 70% of the work has been completed on the Motorway thus it is expected that it will be completed by the mid of 2019.
The Sukkur-Multan Motorway project started back in August 2016. It is a 392km long motorway and work is being done rapidly on it for its timely completion. Earlier in 2018, the 33km long Multan-Shujaabad section of the motorway was inaugurated but as rest of the motorway is still under construction thus the section is closed for traffic.
According to an NHA official till date, 70% of the work has been completed on the motorway and it will be completed by August next year. In the mobile app of NHA, the completion date of the project is mentioned that is 4th September 2019. The official said that almost all bridges have been completed and the asphalt pavement is being constructed at a swift pace.
Motorways are an important part of the mega China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project and Pakistan’s economy is hugely dependent upon them. A framework agreement was signed between Pakistan government and China after which work was started for the specific section of the motorway.
The quality of the motorway will be supreme with the six-lane option, multiple interchanges, and easy & convenient driving experience.
The Sukkur-Multan Motorway will start from Multan and it will pass through Rahimyar Khan, Sadiqabad, Pano Aqil, and different other areas to reach Sukkur.
