Following the directives of the Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan, the farmers of sugarcane have been ensured timely payment of their dues this time, said the Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Hussain Chaudhry.
The federal information minister said through a tweet that the growers of sugarcane in Punjab and Sindh were paid the full price of their yield in a timely manner after a long time, which directly benefitted the farmers as they now have all the resources for the next crop.

On the other hand, a bench of the Sindh High Court (SHC) on Fed 28 had heard the petition filed by the owners of the sugar mills against the new price of sugarcane fixed by the provincial government of Sindh.
The PPP-led provincial government of Sindh had set the price of commodity at Rs182 per 40 kilograms. The owners of the sugar mills, however, had challenged the new price by filing a petition in December calling the price unviable for the owners.
