The government of Punjab has taken the decision of establishing a Sufi University and constitute of Sufi Research Council in the provincial capital, Lahorefor promoting the teachings and education of the saints.
Auqaf Sahibzada Saeedul Hassan Shah-the Minister for Punjab made the announcement while conversing with the media persons on Wednesday.
He said that the objective of the university is to promote the teachings and education of Sufis. The university would be playing a significant role in spreading the message of love and peace, while the Sufi Research Council would be comprising of Ph.D. scholars who would be given the task of translating the teachings of Sufism into many different types of languages.
The minister added that the saints have taught the teachings of Quran and Sunnah to people in their simple yet easy language. The government is taking special steps to look after the shrines of the saints for providing better facilities to the visitors who visit these places in search of solace.
Hassan said that the shrines were a source of promoting fraternity, love, peace and brotherhood. He stressed that the shrine of Baba Fareedudding Ganj Shakar would be made the model by the Punjab Government while the Baba Fareed Tower would also be built for the facilitation of foreign visitors where excellent living facilities would be given to them.
He added that shrines of saints are in true sense shelter for the deserving people and the prime minister—Imran Khan has also announced for the establishment of shelter homes throughout the country for the homeless people.
